South West Riding Area

Please note that the following list of trail riding areas in Alberta is provided as a service to off-highway vehicle users by the Alberta Off-Highway Vehicle Association and will be updated as additional information is received. The use of off-highway vehicles in any of the listed areas requires vehicle registration, valid insurance, head and tail lights and a spark arresting muffler. An adequate muffler is particularly important if we are to continue to enjoy riding in these areas. | Crescent Falls | Approx. 20km south west of Nordegg. OHV use is permitted in the overflow area of Crescent Falls campsite, trails are accessible from this point. |

| McLean Creek OHV
Recreation Area |
Approx. 60km south west of Calgary off highway 66. McLean Creek camp site is designated as an OHV staging area by the Alberta Forest Service. Numerous trails, most of which are marked. |
| Mountain Aire Lodge | 60 km west of Sundre on "Coal Camp Road" south of the Red Deer River at Hwy 940. Camp ground and motel Tel (403) 637-2229. Access to Hunter Valley and Waiporous Creek area. |
| North Ram River | 32 km south of Nordegg on Hwy 40, OHV staging. |
| Phyllis Lake | 16 km west of Caroline off Hwy 54 , OHV staging. |
| Prairie Creek | Approx. 40km south west of Rocky Mountain House on highway 752. Riding area starts approx. 8km past end of pavement. Random camping is available along the road. Camp sites in the vicinity are Prairie Creek and Elk Creek. |
